There are a total of 3 different type of gear slots: Grunt, Tactician and Power. Gears can only fit into their respective Gear Slots.

Different troopers have different slots available.
Tactician and power gears will provide strong bonuses in encounters.
Grunt gears will provide bonuses in missions.

The number of gear slots are varied according to the rarity of the Troopers.
